Hard Times In The Barrio Rincon

Many times we take for granted the life we have and the blessing of water. When we open the faucet water comes and we usually never have to worry if we are going to run out. In the Barrio Rincon the residents there went with out water for a straight 14 days. I mean no water. They had to reuse clothes and purchase bottle water to drink and some had to bum water off from their neighbors so they could cook and drink. They school which has a reserve tank that was purchased last month was emptied out and the people didn’t have water to cook the lunches. One Saturday while we were having youth, group a tanker truck came to the Barrio full of water to be distributed to the residents. It was given by the government. So we acted quickly and emptied out bins, buckets, and bottles and anything we could find to haul water for the school. The kids love helping and they sure did help. The driver of the truck was moved that he actually moved the truck closer to the school for the kids. What a witness to the Barrio. The hearts of the children working for their school while so many of the parents are not. God sure does move! It actually motivated the Parents Board to take action on many issues that have been pending in the school. Praise God.

Numbers 20:2 “Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.”

The first week in the community went well while they didn’t have water. They said hey this is normal for us during the summer season. However when the completion of the second week came, tempers was flying and people were very frustrated and angry. The reason why the community didn’t have water was because the main broke at the bottom of the hill and the government didn’t fix it for the full two weeks. Water was running out into the streets at the bottom of the hill. Talk about frustrating to see the water going to waste.

In these times this is when we need Jesus more. Can you imagine how much harder it will be in years to come. This happens in so many third world countries and then only to receive dirty water.

Ironic in many ways with the oil spill off the Gulf coast. Pray!
